Roku is a video streaming device that gives you access to our VUDU channel which includes digital versions of over 60 popular movies as well as select seasons of some TV shows. You just need a TV with an HDMI port and a Wi-Fi network to connect to and you’ll have access to popular titles such as La La Land, Hidden Figures, Trolls, Moana and more. Check one out for a week and enjoy! You will not have access to any other streaming service besides VUDU and you may not tamper with any settings or channels on the device.

The Library is offering Playaway “Launchpad” tablets for South Country Library cardholders to check out. Launchpads are smart tablets pre-loaded with age-appropriate, ad-free apps that are both educational and entertaining. Best of all, no connectivity or downloading is required for use, just like the Playaway pre-loaded books that children and adults have been enjoying at the Library for years.
The apps are grouped on the tablets by subject area, theme, grade level, and age, making it easy for parents and their children to choose a tablet that most appeals to them. Each Launchpad is 100% secure (children cannot go out onto the Internet), providing hours of interactive learning and play without the risk of exposure to unintended content. Subject offerings include math, science, critical thinking skills, and creative play, using such themes as animals, fantasy, nature, and more. Children can customize their experience by creating their own personal avatar. Parents and teachers can access an informational console that gives feedback about time spent with the tablet.

Do you have old home movies on VHS but no more VCR? Are you looking for an easy way to transfer your VHS tapes to DVD? We now have a Funai VHS to DVD recorder that you can check out from the library so you can transfer your VHS tapes to DVD’s with minimal hassle. We do no supply blank DVD’s to record on so you will have to purchase DVD’s to transfer your video. You cannot transfer copyrighted movies. The library is not responsible for any damage to any VHS tapes or DVD’s, and a policy will have to be signed prior to check out. This item cannot be returned to the book drop.

For In-House Use:
We now have a Photo Editing Laptop available for use by our patrons who are age 18 and older! This MacBook Pro 15 Laptop with Touch Bar is loaded with both Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop so that you can edit your photos to look like the pro’s. You can call Reference to reserve time to use the laptop or come in person to the Reference Desk and if it is available we’ll set you up. You will need to leave a photo ID at the desk when using the laptop as well as signing a a form that you understand the terms of use. Also be sure to bring a Flash Drive or SD card to save your work.
